Ram Leather Care

Repairing rips in leather

Tears on leather can be repaired in two ways: patching or replacing a panel.

Patches are made by placing a piece of leather on the underside of the skin and pulling the torn edges back together using a special leather adhesive.  On painted leathers, the surface is sprayed to mask the repair.  The appearance of the repair will depend on the size and location of the tear and the skin type.  However, it will not be invisible.

For large tears or to restore a special garment, we can completely replace the panel of leather. We will use a skin matching as close a possible to the rest of the garment. An estimate will be provided before work is begun.
